Bride Melissa's Preview

Meet Melissa- our Bride we get to style for her wedding this fall.  We met with her recently for her trial run of hair and makeup.  She is obviously gorgeous, but also the most amazing and sweet girl ever.  

For her wedding, she wanted casual hair, curled with beachy waves.  She is a makeup girl, and loves to have fun with it.  So we decided to go for dramatic eyes, soft pink cheeks and neutral lips.  

To get her look, here is a list makeup products I used . . .

Primer- Smashbox Hydrating Primer

Foundation- Makeup Forever HD #115, applied with this

Powder- MAC Prep + Prime Transparent Powder

Eyeshadow Primer- Benefit "Stay don't Stray"

Shadows: Stila's- Starlight, Grace, Espresso MAC's- Sweet Lust, Nocturnelle

Eyeliner- Top and Bottom smudged with Blacktrack Fluid line

Mascara- Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black

Blush- Smashbox "Heartbreak"

National Lipstick Day!

Did you know that yesterday was National Lipstick Day (yep it's a real thing)!  

I'm happy to celebrate anything that has to do with makeup, expecially lips!  Although lipstick isn't for everyone, there are so many formulas out there that you're sure to find something for you!  I myself prefer the more sheer lightweight lipsticks, or a lipstain.  So, in honor of lipsticks, here's my top 5 favorite lip colors that look great on everyone!  

1.  M.A.C "Viva Glam V"

It's a warm peachy pink shade with a golden shimmer.  It's a natural color that makes your lips look glossy and gorgeous.  I use it on Brides all the time!

2.  Bobbi Brown in "Tulle"

It's a soft muted pink in a creamy and moisturizing formula.  It's not too nude to where it washes you out, it has enough pink to enhance the natural color of your lips.  Love it, and most Bobbi Brown lipsticks!

3.  Stila Longwear lipcolor in "Exquisite"

This is a great medium plum pink, that has a glossy finish in an easy applicator. The color is flattering on everyone, giving a sassy plum pout!

4.  NARS Sheer lipcolor in "Flamenco"

Described as a sheer Candy-apple Red, this color has a buildable pop.  You can make it a light wash of red on your lips, to a bright and vibrant shade as well!  I love NARS, it's always on my "need it" list.  

5.  Tarte Lipsurgence in "Charmed"

Charmed is a soft pink, in an easy twist up applicator, it gives a great sheer pink color while also having a stain factor as well.  I love these sticks, they are great for the natural girl who wants a touch of color.  And they have a peppermint scent- bonus!

On a Budget??-

These are my favorite Drugstore Lipsticks . . . 

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Lip Stain  Love these! - Great colors and you'll have to search because they sell out fast.  They are very similar to the Tarte above!  My favorite colors are Honey and Sweetheart.

Loreal Colour Riche Balm  These are the so moisturizing and have a great finish.  Best shades are Caramel Comfort and Tender Mauve.

Sonia Kashuk Velvety Matte Lip Crayons  I love the long wear ability of these and the texture.  Great colors, love- Rosey Nude and Pinky Nude.

Bride Series: Are you a GLAM Bride . . .

Elegant, Luxurious, Sexy, Dramatic, extra Bling and lots of Makeup . . . . Is this your style?  If so, then you are a GLAMOROUS Bride.  

We love a bride that isn't afraid of some great hair and makeup!  There are a lot of women who love to get dolled up and feel like a princess, and your wedding day is the best way to show your elegant stye.  

For your makeup: you're the type of girl who already wears a lot of makeup everyday, so you're not timid about coverage and drama.  Make your eyes stand out with darker shades, liner, and dramatic long lashes.  Make sure to fill in your brows, and add a highlight sparkle below your brows and cheekbones. Powder, bronzer, blush, etc. . . . you get the idea!  This is a glam slam look for any makeup obsessed bride!

For your Hair:  Go for an elegant and dramatic updo.  You're a princess and your hair should make you feel like one.  Stay away from "messy" styles, rather the more sleek and polished is best.  Adding height and volume to your hair style gives it that wow factor!

Accessories: Extra bling is always welcome for Brides, just make sure that it's not too over done.  Stick to ONE hair accessory, more can be tacky.  A Tiara, jeweled headband, Broach, or small pins are all gorgeous with this look.  Or large chandelier earrings also compliment this look nicely as well!
