Valentine's Day Makeup Tips

VALENTINE'S DAY

is almost here, are you getting ready?!

While we girls are all for playing with makeup, trying new shades and bold colors, we realize that our guys are not!  Men love us looking our most natural and beautiful, without a stitch of makeup!  However, I would die going out in public, especially on Valentine's Day, with a completely bare face.  So, there are ways to get that "no makeup" look with the help of a few products and tips!

1. Instead of choosing a med- full coverage foundation, go with a tinted moisturizer instead and top with a powder.  It's a more natural finish and it will even out your skin tone without looking heavy.  Add concealer to cover a blemish or under eye circles, but keep it light.
  *Products to try:  Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer, Bobbi Brown tinted Moisturizer, or Neutrogena Healthy Skin Glow Sheers

2.  Skip the heavy dark eye shadow and go for a champange or taupe lightly swept across the lid.  Then add a black or brown liner softly smudged right onto the lash line, not too thick.  Wing it out a little for an extra flirty look.  Finish with a few coats of mascara.  Choose a long-wearing or waterproof liner and mascara, just in case you shed a tear or two!  *Try Urban Decay 24/7 pencil or Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes. For eyeshadow, try Shroom by MAC.

3.  Keep your skin glowing and touchable by using a cream blush.  It will melt into your skin and give a very natural finish, undetectable to the male eye!! Tip- Warm up the cream blush between two fingers and then press it into the apples of your cheeks.  *Try Stila Convertible Color in Peony , MAC Cremeblend in So Sweet, So Easy, or NARS Multiple stick in G-Spot

4.  Ditch the Lipstick or Gloss and go for a LIP STAIN.  This will ensure an entire evening of pink lips without it rubbing off on him.  There are so many color options for lip stains, so you can't go wrong.  Try a Red, bright pink or plum for the evening so you don't look washed out.  He'll love it!

* Products to try:  Revlon Just Bitten Stain + Balm ( doubled sided, stain on one end and lip balm on the other, genius!).  Tarte Lipsurgence ( These are a ligher stain, and have a lovely mint scent)

We are loving this "Trash The Dress" trend!

The wedding is over, so now it is time to trash the wedding dress. Brides are enjoying the new trend to trash their Wedding dress after the wedding. Many brides are choosing this non-traditional photographic opportunity to display their dress in a ‘messy’ situation and we love this idea.

Pose in your wedding dress knee deep in the ocean, sitting in the mud, covered in paint, or pelted with icing. Photographers are getting creative and the brides love it. We at Swell beauty have our first "Trash the Dress" Shoot this month and can't wait to share the pics...........stayed tuned!

Sneak Peek at MAC's Spring 2012 Line

Although it may seem a little early to think of Spring, many makeup companies are introducing us to what's hot for the next season.  Spring is such a fun time for makeup, really waking up our color palettes and bringing some pop!  We are super excited for this new line from MAC Shop Cook Collection, set to hit stores Feb 9th!  Can't wait to go and play with this line!

Just look at those shadow palettes, and can't wait to see all the lipstick shades!

 (seriously love the texture of Stila shadows, use damp or dry)

Smashbox came out with some great new products, but what I'm loving is their new Be Lengendary Lipsticks!  Lots of great shades that are moisturizing and glossy.

We couldn't be more obsessed with the show "Pan Am" and all the fabulous 60's Vintage Inspired Hair Styles!! We love how versatile these Old Hollywood looks can be for your Wedding or Special Occasion!

   Chris Clark, the head of the hair department for the TV series "Pan Am" told the LA TIMES, that hot rollers have a guest-starring role behind-the-scenes of this new ABC drama. 

As you can see HOT ROLLERS are making a comeback .......go get some!!
